어제 로마 교황이 갔는지 뉴스를 안봐서 모르겠는데 내용 중에 the Latin Patriarch라는 용어가 나오는데 저는 이를 로마 교황으로 해석했습니다.

Then the Latin Patriarch arrived.
Dressed in purple robes, the head of the Roman Catholic Church in theHoly Land is leading a solemn procession into the church of the Nativity. He is followed by priests dressed in white who are chanting the Christmas liturgy. A big crowd is looking on including local Palestinians and pilgrims from around the world.
After staying away for many years because of Israeli-Palestinian violence, pilgrims returned this year.
Bethlehem Mayor Victor Batarseh told to VOA.
"It's a more joyful Christmas. We have more tourists, we have more pilgrims coming to the city ofBethlehem Bethlehem
The mayor attributes the change to a lull in violence and the revival of the peace process.
Anne Nicholson, from the American state ofAlabama , said the Prince of Peace is what Bethlehem
"My heart is just bursting with joy to be here. Honored, privileged, humbled. I've heard just about every language you can hear spoken today," "And the common denominator is the love of Christ that has brought people from all over the world to this place, to be in a spot that we know that Christ was born here."

보안이 강화되었다. 수십명의 팔레스타인 경찰이 거리를 순찰했는데 그 중 몇 명은 자동소총으로 무장하고 있었다.
그리고 나서 교황이 도착했다. 자주색 제복을 입은 로마 카톨릭 교회의 수장이 성지에서 예수탄생교회로 향하는 종교행렬을 이끌고 있다. 그에 이어 크리스마스 예식을 노래하는 흰색드레스를 입은 사제들이 따른다. 수많은 군중이 지역 팔레스타인들과 전세계로부터 온 순례자들을 지켜보고 있다.
이스라엘과 팔레스타인 사이의 폭력사태 때문에 수 년 동안 비워져 있었던 후로, 올해 순례자들이 돌아왔다.
베들레헴 시장인 빅터 벗타서는 VOA에 말했다.

빅터 시장은 폭력사태가 소강상태로 변하고 평화협상의 재개 덕분이라고 한다.
미국 알래바마에서 온 앤 니콜슨은 그리스도는 베들레헴의 참모습이라고 말했다.
”나의 마음은 오직 여기 있음에 대한 기쁨으로 충만해지고 있다. 영광스럽고, 특별해지고, 겸손해지고. 나는 정말로 오늘날 말해지고 있는 여러분이 들을 수 있는 모든 언어를 들었다. 그리고 그 공통분모는 전세계로부터 우리가 알듯이 예수 그리스도가 태어나신 곳이며 현재 안좋은 상태에 있는 이곳으로 사람들을 이끈 예수 그리스도의 사랑이다.”
